Beach sprints are 70 to 90m explosive races testing speed individually or in relays. Beach flags are elimination events where competitors sprint from a prone position to capture flags.
Surf swim races test endurance, speed, and surf awareness. Competitors start from the beach, swim around buoys beyond the break, and return to shore, often catching waves to finish. Events include individual surf races and surf teams races, where the combined placings of four swimmers determine team results.
Simulated rescue events where competitors swim to a “patient” and tow them back to shore. These races highlight lifesaving skills, speed, and technique.
The Aussies Ocean Swim is an event that is open to both Surf Life Saving members and the public. It is a 2km ocean swim race that embodies the essence of fun and participation, and will feature some of Australia’s best ocean athletes.
